service DOORS doesn't start

Hi, all.
I have a DOORS 9.1 version server

  • I stopped the DOORS service
  • I have installed a new DOORS service that got automatically ID 00001
  • By regedit I linked the new service to the data come from a DOORS 7.1 version

  • But the new service doesn't want to start with a general error!

How can I solve?

Thank you!

I found the solution by myself:
DOORS 7.1 keeps some system references in the files

dbtata.lck
servdata.lck
server_settings.dtc
server_settings.lck

so is mandatory to copy those files from the DOORS 9.1 directory data in the folder who store the DOORS 7.1 data.

...and IT WORKS!

Do you think that could be some problems with this procedure?

Let me get this right.
You are using a DOORS 9.1 database server to access a data folder created using DOORS 7.1. And you have achieved this by copying 9.1 dtc and lck files into the 7.1 data folder.

This does not sound like a procedure that IBM would recommend, but if it works and there is no data corruption, then you may have a method of opening a legacy doors database using the current version.

I would be interested to know if this really is safe.

Thank you for the interest.
Actually everything seems works fine.
0.9 GB of data were imported from DOORS 7.1 version and the data on the 9.1 seem not affected by the change.
Enjoy
